Description
An infographic comparing monotropism and polytropism, headed 'Autistic/ADHD people are more likely to be monotropic'. Monotropic attention puts more resources into fewer channels, which can mean deep focus, restorative flow states and strong sensory experiences, but also less energy for what lies outside the tunnel and harder transitions. Polytropic attention spreads across more channels, so shifting focus and managing change may take less energy. It cites the Monotropism Questionnaire (Garau et al., 2023) and is described as a personal interpretation made to encourage discussion.
