Description
A free, open-source training resource from Autistic Realms and Stimpunks Foundation, co-created by Ryan Boren, Helen Edgar, Chelsea Adams and Norah Hobbs.
“The place where we belong does not exist. We will build it.” (James Baldwin)
Neuroqueer Learning Spaces (NQLS) is an invitation to educators, families and communities to challenge neuronormativity and build something radically different. Rooted in Nick Walker’s neuroqueer theory (Walker, 2021), it imagines learning built on trust, embodiment, and cognitive, sensory and somatic liberty, in places that are not limited to school buildings.
The training explores Cavendish Space and David Thornburg’s primordial learning spaces of caves, campfires and watering holes, collective flow, and why we need to move away from compliance-driven, behaviourist practice towards communities of trust and radical welcome.
Inside the pack you will find:
- A PDF of the slides with presenter notes, discussion prompts and activity suggestions
- A PDF of the slides only
- A PowerPoint version you can edit
- The Reflective Notebook for educators, with and without presenter notes
It is suitable for educators, therapists, health and care professionals, families, advocates and community groups. Please share, remix and use it freely, in line with our ethos of open knowledge and mutual care.
Free for everyone. If your organisation is able to, you are warmly invited to choose a donation in the price box above (we suggest £75). Donations help keep this training free for individuals and anyone with limited funds.
