Description
Monotropic / Monotropism is one of the 222 words in the Neuro-Affirming Glossary of Key Words and Terms (2026 Edition). This card has the word, its short definition and its symbol, as a 1080 × 1080 PNG for screens, slides, handouts or social media. The card reads:
“A neuro-affirming theory of Autism based on how attention and interests are spread (D. Murray, 1992; D. Murray et al., 2005). A monotropic person has a few highly aroused interests at any one time, so attention goes deep into one thing and switching is costly. Most Autistic people, and many ADHD people, resonate with the theory of monotropism (Garau et al., 2023; see Attention Tunnel, Polytropic / Polytropism).”
Pay what you like for a single card, from £1 (suggested £2). If you would like every card, the Neuro-Affirming Glossary 2026 Bundle includes the e-book and the complete 222-card deck, with print files and A4 posters. All 222 words are also free to read on the Glossary page.
